Putaruru Hotel

Built in the early 1950s in a predominantly art deco style, the Putaruru Hotel is a unique and striking looking building. The building has had a number of owners over the years and hasn’t been looked after well. Hopefully she will get back in her former glory one day. Most of the characteristic details are still intact. You can feel the grandeur from the old days as soon as you step into the building and notice the sweeping stairs which leads to the hotel rooms. The old telephone is still there as well as the writing room, which is now used as television room for the guests. Even the reception desk with its sliding doors make you feel been dropped back to the 19th century. The Parongi function room still has her beautiful fireplace, chandeliers and authentic wallpaper and even the little art-deco bar in there has never been touched. The on-site restaurant is open from Wednesday till Saturday from 8 am till 8.30 pm for breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, a beer or a glass of wine.
