Constructed for the Bank of New Zealand in 1910, this neo-classical building reflects an era when the bank manager was the most important man in town. Over a century later, the bank left, and Left Bank was born! Lovingly restored and beautifully furnished in a tasteful heritage style, the property now has something to offer every visitor to Kaikohe. The foyer upstairs opens onto 5 rooms that were originally the private residence of the bank manager and his family. The 3 largest are now spacious Deluxe Rooms, with modern en-suites and King beds that can be split to twins. The smaller 2 Standard Double Rooms are equally comfortable, also featuring private bathrooms, flatscreen TVs, and tea & coffee facilities. For the more budget-conscious, downstairs is home to Safe-As Backpackers. The unique design creates a level of privacy not normally achieved within a hostel dorm! Various semi-enclosed areas have 1, 2 or 3 comfortable single beds, each with its own power socket and reading light.
