Lagar de Serrato is a Bed and Breakfast and also has two detached apartments which are built (semi)separate from the main building. Serrato enjoys a superb location in the Montes de Málaga, 3 miles from the old connecting road between Málaga and Colmenar, on the edge of a national park and overlooking the slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains. On the Serrato estate you will find a traditional Andalucien Cortijo-Lagar (cottage-moulding plant) of over 200 years old. Over the past centuries the place has been extended and now it has the typical looks of a miniature village. A lot of the ancient details are still intact, but ofcourse we added modern, hygienic sanitary fittings and comfortable beds. The cortigo is set in 500 acres of land, partly covered with olive, almond and fig-trees and surrounded by cactuses, cork-oaks and a wide variety of wild flowers and herbs. Because Serrato has its own spring and solar panels, it’s completely self-containing in energy and water. A stay at Serrato for a couple of days or perhaps even longer is an exceptional experience for people who like to get off the beaten track to enjoy the beauty of nature, serenity and, at the same time, feel truly in the heart of one of the most beautiful parts of Andalusia. On the other hand the location serves as an ideal base for visiting cities such as Málaga, Granada, Ronda en Nerja. On the way down you will even catch sight of the Mediterranean. Besides the very rich breakfast Serrato is the right place for lunches, attractive diners, tapas or a BBQ, all being served in the yard or in the cosy dining room. We could also provide you with some nice suggestions for daytrips and we could organise all kind of activities like hiking arrangments, horseback riding, Spanish lessons, mountainbiking or motor tours. There are lots of possibilities to do some nice walking or driving in the surrounding area, in the nearby national park Montes de Malaga, or you could walk from village to village. On request we can arrange transport for people and/or luggage as well as catering. Lagar de Serrato is also very suitable for organised trips or for f.e. classes photography, painting and yoga, and for celebrating family or group events.
