Quaint plantation town established in the late 1800's for the immigrants of Japanese, Portuguese, Filipino, Chinese and other countries. This town was called "LITTLE CHICAGO" and was home to several theaters, bars, gasoline stations, restaurants, general stores, bakeries and life shops such as a barber, dentist and medical. Home to the famous AKAKA FALLS. At one time, it was well known as an ART GALLERY town where several shops still remain open. Now the town is in a revival where buildings are being refurbished. It is the hometown of my Hanashiro family who immigrated from Okinawa and have been here for 4 generations and where my father was born & raised. Going back to the good life. With pleasure we welcome you to visit or stay at our newly rebuilt family inn and enjoy the simplicity of a sleepy town getting ready to open its eyes once again. The Honomu Inn took several years from the bottom up to its splendor! Once again, hope to see you soon!
