Hotell Dahlströmska Gården

Dahlströmska Gården bed and breakfast does not only provide a place to stay, it has its own exiting history. In the 19th century the buildings belonged to Wadstena mental hospital and hosted men from the upper class who came here for treatment. The houses are very well preserved and the atmosphere indicates great care in the old days. Today it is a place for recreation as well as a museum. Dahlströmska Gården has 11 rooms with 25 beds in total. There are single rooms and double rooms and some for up to four persons. A couple of rooms have en suite WC and shower while others share these facilities. If you want to make a trip to explore the surroundings you can rent a bike at Dahlströmska Gården. We also provide picnic baskets, perfect for a lunch wherever you like! Dahlströmska Gården is regarded as cultural heritage and since 2012 both the exterior and the interior parts are protected by law. The original layout is hardly changed at all and every crafted detail has a story to tell. Rooms with harmonic proportions, a peaceful garden and organic breakfast in the old dining-hall... What else there is to experience you will find out yourself. Additionally we have prepared a treasure hunt; geocaching. Supported by GPS you will find other interesting places linked to the mental hospital and get to know about their history.
