Our farm, Fontenuova, is in the heart of Medieval Maremma, within the Albegna National Park of Southern Tuscany. The park is recognised by the EU as an area of outstanding natural beauty. Fontenuova, which overlooks a unique patchwork of rolling hills and luscious countryside, is just a 600m walk from the hilltop village of Saturnia. Renown for its thermal open air waterfall and baths (Terme di Saturnia), this historic town was originally settled by the Etruscans and then the Romans. Today, the beautiful central piazza offers a combination of wonderful restaurants, shops, delicatessens, cafes. Fontenuova is a 30-hectare organic farm, with its private olive grove, vineyard and woods. It's located on a hillside, bordered by the river Albegna and the ancient Roman road via Clodia. This road leads down to the farm from one of the original Roman gateways of Saturnia. The accommodation is divided into two areas: Il Casale (The Farmhouse), recently renovated with local stone; and Il Borghetto (The Hamlet). The beautifully furnished rooms will satisfy your every need for comfort. During your stay you will be able to explore the woods and gorge of the river Albegna. Local wildlife includes porcupine, wild boar, spotted buzzard, heron and more. Fontenuova's peaceful location lies only a stone's throw from the village.
