The ancient Villa "Widmann-Borletti", located in the historical center of Bagnoli di Sopra, promises a long and monumental front of a majestic loggia which enhances the architectural appearance and characterizes the style. The villa attributed to Baldassarre Longhena, was built upon commission of the Widmann family in 1654 on the same site of a previous Benedictine monastery of the XI century. The internal facade is facing a huge Italian style garden enriched by fragrant lemon trees and decorated with a collection of more than 60 important statues carved by Antonio Bonazza in 1742. Villa Widmann soon became a summer retreat for nobles and artist. Among them, the famous comedy writer Carlo Goldoni who wrote and stake in the Villa's theatre some of his famous comedies. The whole complex is enclosed by a perimeter wall of the fourteenth century. Inside the complex beautiful locations are used for private and company events, marriages and cultural events. The villa, now owned by the Borletti family, it now part of a large farm, which has a wine tradition of more than a thousand years, called "Dominio di Bagnoli." A visit to the fascinating historical cellars were you can taste and buy D.O.C., D.O.C.G. and "Bagnoli Classico" wines should not be missed.
