The Hotel Whitman in Ascheberg welcomes you in the heart of Holstein Switzerland directly on the shore of the Great Plön Lake between Kiel and Lübeck. The entire hotel, from the 43 spacious and bright guest rooms to the attractive restaurant with lounge and the innovative wellness area, was designed by star designer Werner Aisslinger in an urban and at the same time nature-conscious style. The hotel has a spacious garden that extends to the lake shore. Parking is available on the property. The 40 to 100 square metre guest rooms offer plenty of space for relaxing reflection. All rooms have their own balcony or terrace from where you can enjoy a wide view of the lake. Large windows, light carpets and lots of wood create a friendly and clear atmosphere in Scandinavian style. All guest rooms at Hotel Whitman are furnished with innovative designer furniture and have their own kitchenette with microwave and preparation facilities for tea and coffee. Some of the rooms have two levels, wood-clad alcove beds on a gallery or staircases. The comfort bathrooms are equipped with a shower or bathtub. All rooms have an internet connection via WLAN. The huge window fronts with lake view, numerous green plants and the surrounding wooden benches with large cushions are central design elements of the restaurant. The kitchen prepares varied dishes for you from regional and organically grown ingredients. The hotel thus pursues an overall concept of nutrition that pleases the palate and fills the body with energy. The lounge attached to the restaurant with sofas, fireplace and small library provides a relaxed atmosphere. The bar is also located here, where the breakfast buffet is served in the morning for the perfect start to the day and in the evening is the right place for a snack or a drink in company. The spacious wellness area at Hotel Whitman is an oasis of relaxation with its pool, several saunas, including a steam sauna and a Finnish sauna, as well as the associated wellness rooms. Here too, Werner Aisslinger's design is characterised by natural materials, many green plants and open design elements. Large windows provide a view of the lake and allow plenty of light to enter. Lie down in one of the hammocks in the relaxation area or lie down on a lounger on the outdoor terrace. You can get refreshments and healthy smoothies at the bar which is part of the wellness area. Part of the wellness area is the 3000 square metre garden with reclining areas, seating area, footbridge and wooden terrace directly on the shore. The special highlight here is the wellness pavilion with infinity sauna directly on the water. The services offered by Hotel Whitman include outdoor exercise and yoga as well as massages and wellness treatments in the individual treatment rooms. The Great Plön Lake is the largest lake in Schleswig Holstein and a popular local recreation area with numerous leisure activities. The Hotel Whitman, situated directly on the lake shore, is an ideal starting point for long walks or bicycle tours. Canoe tours, sailing trips, a ride in a rowing or pedal boat or a swim in one of the designated bathing areas are ideal for those who enjoy sports. Fishing, stand-up paddling and diving or a round trip on one of the excursion ships are also possible. A jetty is located in Ascheberg. In ten minutes by car or in 25 minutes by bicycle you can reach the city of Plön from the Hotel Whitman. In addition to a stroll through the small old town, we recommend a visit to Plön Castle, one of the most important Renaissance buildings and the most beautiful complexes in the state. Several historic buildings, such as the Prinzenhaus from the rococo era or the Uhrenhaus, which houses the information centre of the Holsteinische Schweiz Nature Park, are just as popular with visitors as the baroque gardens or the Alte Apfelgarten. Today, events and exhibitions take place in the former imperial swimming hall.
